  • Production Team Leader

    North Kingstown, Rhode Island

    Job Summary:  Responsible for providing timely and accurate shipments to Electric Boat. Working with the EB Project Coordinator and Manufacturing Manager ensure that components are available to support the Shipping Schedule. Responsible for the safe operation & maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment assigned to the department.

    Primary Functional Responsibilities:

    • Work with the EB Project Coordinator in conjunction with the Shipping Schedule to determine priorities in order to maintain scheduled flow of work.
    • Follow up on progress of work through other departments and spot check to insure quality standards are maintained and ensure availability to support Shipping schedule.
    • Monitor and maintain the status of orders released to manufacturing identifying bottlenecks or material shortages.
    • Read and interpret a variety of manufacturing drawings including those supplied by EB.
    • Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, depth gauges, and other specified tools, materials and equipment as required.
    • Manage department inventory locations, stocking and identification of materials.
    • Prepare and maintain all required records, logs, and reports.

  • Steel Assembler

    North Kingstown, Rhode Island

    Job Summary:  Perform a wide variety of bench assembly and calibration operations to assemble and/or build and calibrate Constant Support and Variable Spring units.

    Primary Functional Responsibilities:

    • Review orders as released from Shop Office in anticipation of work requirements. Ensure that any required operations, prior to assembly, are performed (i.e. galvanizing of spring/constant components).
    • Work from operation traveler, prints, and written or oral instructions to pick required items from storage for specific supports via the use of hand trucks, forklifts and carts, and store in baskets, on skids or on dollies.
    • Fill out and maintain current shortage sheet.
    • Perform visual inspection to ensure materials are of proper type, size, surface finish, and that no gross physical defects are apparent.
    • Chase and locate missing parts within production shop, paint, or Quality Control areas.
    • Arrange details, align, make adjustments for fit, and assemble materials utilizing various hardware and fasteners. Complete assembly using required hydraulic presses, hoists, cranes, jib booms, holding fixtures, vices, metal cutting band saws, wire brushes (both manual and air electric driven), power drills, rivet guns, and typical mechanic’s hand tools.
    • Use test assembly bench, fixtures, hand tools and hydraulic presses to perform cold setting operation.
    • Drill form tags, and rivet scales and/or ID tags to exact location on spring casing as required.
    • Attach hot and cold markers (use metal tacks where deemed necessary) and select and install proper travel stop components based upon specified loads.
    • Band strap travel stops in place, install travel stop removal instruction tags onto unit as required.
    • Perform rework as necessary such as (but not limited to) retapping, redrilling and /or grinding to ensure proper unit performance.
    • Stamp permanent ID on unit using punch type stamping equipment.
    • Maintain work area as well as machines, tools, and equipment to meet program requirements.
    • Use cranes, dollies and carts to obtain and return material to and from storage area and move completed job to next operation.
    • Perform all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
    • Identify and assist in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place.

    Job Summary:  Operate, adjust and make simple set ups on shear, punch, drill, saw, thread, grit blast or similar machines.  Conduct all activities in a safe manner and follow all safety rules and regulations.

    Primary Functional Responsibilities:

    • Perform repetitive sawing, shearing or abrasive cutting, drilling, threading, grinding, and reaming, cleaning and punching operations on ferrous and non-ferrous material such as channel, angle, bar, rod, pipe material and component parts.
    • Work from operation traveler, prints and oral instructions to obtain specified material and required tools.
    • Clean away chips and oil and check dimensions using plug, thread, scale and tape against print specifications.
    • Deburr and clean off parts
    • Run/inspect first piece and production parts as required and make adjustments until part is machined within specifications.
    • Capable of performing first piece and in-process inspections.
    • Use crane, dollies and carts to obtain and return material to and from storage area and move completed job to next operation.
    • Use various measuring devices to ensure work is to print specification including, but not limited to, machinist square, micrometers, verniers, thread and plug gauges.
    • Store all tooling, inserts and additional point-of-use items in an organized manner, in drawers, on work bench etc. with proper labels, color coding, floor marking or other identifying mechanism.
    • Maintain work area as well as machines, tools, and equipment to meet program requirements.
    • Performs all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
    • Identify and assist in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place.

  • Sr. Welder

    North Kingstown, Rhode Island

    Job Summary:  Perform stick, fluxcore, tack welding and torch cutting operations on carbon steel, carbon to alloys, stainless steel and occasionally galvanized materials welding filler, vee groove and full penetration bevel joints on a variety of parts.  Qualified for 2G and 2F.

    Primary Functional Responsibilities:

    • Work from weld data sheet and procedures, operation traveler, prints and oral instructions to select electrode, determine filler size and draw filler wire and stick from weld wire crib and determine type of setup.
    • Use turntable or lathe for circular parts or use weld bench to set up fixtures or layout and build makeshift fixturing.
    • Visually check parts in preparation for welding, cleaning weld area of oil, dirt, rust and burrs.
    • Check dimensions to ensure parts are within print dimensions.
    • Prepare parts for welding using square, tape or scale centering heads and compass components following weld parameters.
    • Use temp sticks to ensure specified heat and weld components in one or multiple passes to produce welds with proper penetration, free from burn through, cracks, porosity and heavy bead.
    • Deburr and grind off slag and excessive weld, as necessary.
    • Repair defective welded parts using air arc to remove material to root of imperfection or to base metal and re-weld according to weld specifications.
    • Perform torch cutting including cutting radius and plasma cutting on stainless steel.
    • Use various measuring devices to ensure work is to print specification including, but not limited to, coordinate measuring machine, machinist square, micrometers, verniers, thread and plug gauges.
    • Use crane, dollies and carts to obtain and return material to and from storage area and move completed job to next operation.
    • Return leftover filler sticks to wire crib at completion of shift.
    • Store all tooling, fixtures and additional point-of-use items in an organized manner, in drawers, on work bench etc. with proper labels, color coding, floor marking or other identifying mechanism.
    • Maintain work area as well as machines, tools, and equipment to meet program requirements.
    • Perform all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
    • Identify and assist in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place.

    • Work from blue prints and other drawings to properly execute job function by accurately measuring and laying out locations for welded components using various jigs.

    • Weld materials together with speed and accuracy using techniques for TIG welding on stainless steel.
    • Observe problems arising during the welding process and accurately adjust speed and voltage to correct problem.
    • Check dimensions to ensure parts are within print dimensions.
    • Use various measuring devices to ensure work is to print specification including, but not limited to, coordinate measuring machine, machinist square, micrometers, verniers, thread and plug gauges.
    • Use crane, dollies and carts to obtain and return material to and from storage area and move completed job to next operation.
    • Store all tooling, fixtures and additional point-of-use items in an organized manner, in drawers, on work bench etc. with proper labels, color coding, floor marking or other identifying mechanism.
    • Maintain work area as well as machines, tools, and equipment to meet program requirements.
    • Perform all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
    • Identify and assist in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place.
    • May be regularly rotated to other job assignments to assist in meeting production schedules.

    The Hand Thread operator is responsible for the set-up, production, quality and maintenance of the assigned machine. The machine is hand fed by inserting the cut blank into the holder (grips) mounted on a sliding carriage, which is pushed into contact via a lever to engage the head to produce a threaded nipple.  

     

    The operator sets-up/adjust the machine; checks parts through the use of assorted gauges; performs a visual inspection of the part for ream, facing, thread quality and overall appearance of the part; removal and installation of the reamer and grips and also the removal, installation and maintenance of the chasers; maintaining production standards pertaining to quantity and quality and entering production accurately into the computer system; maintaining and keeping assigned machine and work area clean, safe and organized.

    Location:  BECK Manufacturing, Greencastle PA

    Shift: 3rd: Sunday through Thursday, 10:30pm - 6:30am

    Starting Rate: $14.50 (includes 3rd Shift differential)

     

    The Machine Operator performs work in various departments to which they are assigned on a day-to-day basis. The Machine Operator may perform work in any department in which they have been properly trained.  The Machine Operator will be responsible for completing the essential duties as outlined in the job description for the position they are performing at any given time.

    The Forklift Operator (Stand-up forklift) is responsible for moving material from one location to another; keeping machine operators supplied with raw material and moving finished product away from the machine operators; scanning the material as s/he moves it from one location to another for proper inventory tracking; and general maintenance of the forklift.

  • Cut Off Operator - 2nd Shift

    Greencastle, Pennsylvania

    Beck Manufacturing, a division of Anvil International and located in Greencastle PA, is accepting Applications for a 2nd shift Cut-Off Machine Operator.

    2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, $13.75 per hour

     

    The Machine Operator sets the machine to cut pipe to a specified length. The machine is either an automatic feed or the operator will hand feed the machine by pulling the pipe at waist level until the cutting blade engages. 

     

    The operator must periodically check for quality and accuracy of length and/or bore size using gages or dial calipers. The operator may be required to make minor adjustments to the machine using general hand tools including hammers, screwdrivers, open and closed end wrenches, ratchets and sockets in order to achieve desired results.

     

    The operator is responsible for changing the cutting tool using an allen wrench when needed, maintaining the proper level of all lubricants using site gages or visual inspection, keeping their work area clean and safe, keeping foreign objects out of the tubs containing cut pipe, and maintaining accurate production records in the computer system. 

     

    Operators will run one or two machines based on the level of automation of the machine.
